Authorities in Kericho County have started investigations following the tragic discovery of the decomposed body of a retired teacher within dense foliage of a thicket in Seretut area.

The remains of the retired teacher, who had been reported missing since last Sunday, were uncovered in Chemoset village of Belgut Sub County.

It is believed that the teacher took his own life.

“Preliminary findings suggest that the deceased had a rope tied around his neck, indicating a possible hanging from a nearby tree,” stated law enforcement officials.

The deceased’s family had raised the alarm after their loved one failed to return home. Following extensive search efforts, the distressing discovery was made within the confines of the thicket, where the body was found in an advanced state of decomposition.

Officers from the nearby Sosiot police station who responded transferred the deceased to the mortuary at Kericho Referral Hospital for further examination and investigation.
