Former NTV journalist Kennedy Murithi over the weekend hosted a grand dowry payment party for his wife, Diana Amunga Ochami.
Murithi who now works for the Tharaka Nithi County Government, said the party, which took place in Karen, Nairobi was a significant step in honouring his eight-year marriage.
“The event was very good. I am happy that both my wife’s family and my family played a critical role in making the day a success,” he shared with the press.
While Murithi and Diana had previously tied the knot in a church wedding in 2016 and completed the initial dowry payment, he emphasised the ongoing nature of this cultural tradition.
“I got married in 2016 at a church wedding, and we paid the dowry, but remember, dowry haiishi,” he explained. “I was coming to reduce my debt and build a stronger bond between the two families.”
The ceremony garnered attention with a distinguished guest list, including prominent political figures such as National Assembly Majority Whip Sylvanus Osoro, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, and Kitutu Chache North MP Japheth Nyakundi, among others.
Also in attendance were media personalities like Murithi’s former colleagues, Mark Masai, Ben Kitili, and Seth Olale, who have since transitioned to Citizen TV.
