John Matara, the main suspect in the murder of socialite Starlet Wahu, has officially been charged with murder after the conclusion of investigations.

Matara appeared before Milimani High Court Judge Kanyi Kimondo on Friday, February 02. He however entered a plea of not guilty to the charges presented in court.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) is preparing to file an application seeking denial of bail for Matara.

The case is scheduled for mention on February 26, during which the DPP’s application opposing Matara’s release on bond will be addressed.

The lifeless body of Starlet Wahu was discovered at an apartment in the South B area last month. Also recovered in the AirBnB where the couple had checked in was a used condom and a HIV testing kit.

CCTV footage obtained from the premises placed a man, believed to be Matara in the premises.

After his arrest, further investigation revealed condoms and HIV testing kits in his house in Kahawa West.
