Kenya Power has issued a notice to inform Kenyans about a scheduled power interruption in select parts of the country on Saturday, February 10, 2024.
In a notice posted on its website, the utility firm stated that the temporary power outage is part of routine maintenance activities.
“Notice is hereby given under Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules that the electricity supply will be interrupted as hereunder: (It is necessary to interrupt supply periodically to facilitate maintenance and upgrade of power lines to the network; to connect new customers or to replace power lines during construction, etc.),” Kenya Power said.
The power interruption scheduled for Saturday, February 10, 2024, will affect three regions – Nairobi, Mt Kenya, and the North Rift region.
The affected counties include Nairobi, Embu, and Trans Nzoia counties.
In Nairobi, the power outage will last for eight hours from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The affected areas include part of Ngong Road and Kilimani. These areas include Coptic Hospital, Royal Golf Clubs, China Centre, Lexo Petrol, Former Uchumi, Rose Avenue, George Padmore, Marcus Garvey, St. Nicholas Senior & Junior Schools, Carrefour, China City, Yaya Centre, Kilimani Mall, Naivas Kilimani, Timau Plaza, Circle Mall, Tigoni Rd, Timau Rd, Four Point, Nine Planes, Sudan Embassy, Kibera Law Courts, DC’s Office, Kibera Police Station, Makena Mosque, Kibera Kichinjio, Makena, Lindi, Mashimoni, Kambi Muru, part of Gatwikira, and adjacent customers.
Parts of Embu County will experience a blackout from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, including Embu Town, Moffas Building, Embu College, Kanjuru Estate, Kenster Hardware, Irangi Food Processing, Embu Urban Primary School, Shauri Market, County Government Offices, and adjacent customers.
Kenya Power stated that parts of Trans Nzoia County will be affected by a blackout from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. The affected areas include Makunga, Bakhita, Goseta, Emoru, Taito, Maili Saba, Milima, Aruba, Kesogon, Kimeloi, Kaisagat, Kapsara, Chebarus, Kabolet, Makoi, Chisare, Ngonyek, Minex, Sibanga, Sirwo Resort, Namba Nne, Kirita, Sitatunga, Cooperative, Marura, Mukuyu, Bwayi, Makhonge, Mutua, Maili 7, Kipsaina, and adjacent customers.
