President William Ruto, on Sunday, February 04, announced that Kenya would fly flags at half-mast to mourn the passing of Namibian President Hage Geingob.
While speaking in Kakamega County during interdenominational prayers, Ruto also disclosed that State officials were in the process of determining the start date for the mourning period.
Prior to the announcement, Ruto led the nation in a one-minute silence to pay respects to the late Geingob.
Namibian President Hage Geingob passed away on February 4 while undergoing treatment for cancer at Pohamba Hospital in Windhoek, the nation’s capital.
According to a statement from the Namibian Presidency, Geingob took his last breath surrounded by his wife and children.
President Ruto eulogised Geingob as a distinguished leader who served the people of Namibia with focus and dedication.
“He was a believer in a unified Africa and strongly promoted the continent’s voice and visibility in the global arena,” Ruto stated.
