Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah escaped unharmed after he was involved in a car accident on Friday while traveling to Busia from Kisumu. The accident happened near the Ojola area when a trailer lost control and crashed into his vehicle, causing it to veer off the road.
Fortunately, Omtatah and his driver escaped without any injuries.
The driver recounted how he swerved to avoid a head-on collision with the trailer, which ended up in a ditch nearby. Omtatah credited his safety belt for keeping him secure in his seat during the crash.
When questioned by police, the trailer driver explained that the brakes malfunctioned, leading to the accident.
The Busia Senator was later on escorted by a police vehicle and his vehicle towed to Maseno police station for processing.
