The Judicial Service Commission (JSC), chaired by Chief Justice Martha Koome, has shortlisted seven candidates for the position of Chief Registrar of the Judiciary, that fell vacant as Anne Amadi completes her term.
The final shortlist came after the JSC reviewed forty-three applications that had been received.
The shortlisted candidates are Rose Macharia Wachuka, Jack Ouma Busalile Mwimali, Anne Wambeti Ireri, Paul Ndemo Maina, Caroline Kendagor Jepyegen, and Kennedy Kandet Lenkamai.
Interviews for the candidates will take place on March 18, 2024, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Additionally, the public has been encouraged to provide any relevant information about the shortlisted candidates in writing.
The vacancy for Chief Registrar of the Judiciary arose following the departure of Anne Amadi after serving for ten years. Currently, her deputy, Paul Ndemo, is serving in an acting capacity.
Anne Amadi’s tenure was however not without controversy after she was adversely mentioned, alongside her son Brian Amadiof illegally obtaining $742,206 from Bruton Gold Trading LLC — a company in Dubai — with a promise of selling 1.5 tonnes of gold bars..
The former registrar would later claim that she was innocent and that individuals involved in the gold scandal aimed to remove her from office before her term concluded.
Asserting her innocence, Amadi clarified that the JSC investigated the allegations and found them baseless, preventing any attempts to force her out of the Judiciary.
