A recent post by NRG Radio has ignited a debate in the industry, sparking concerns over the boundaries of creative expression in media.
The Valentine’s Day meme featuring presenter Natalie Githinji raised eyebrows, with some perceiving it as provocative. In the meme, Natalie is seen suggestively lying on the floor with her legs in the air, with the captions ‘Unanipea nini valentines kesho?’.
Renowned radio and television personality Fred Obachi Machoka voiced his disapproval of the meme, highlighting its potential negative impact on the profession’s image.
Machoka called on NRG Radio’s management to reconsider their content strategy, emphasizing the importance of decorum and respect within the industry.
While NRG Radio’s aim was to engage audiences with humor and edginess, it clearly did not go down well with other people within the media industry, evidenced by Machoka’s response.
