Popular disc jockey Joe Mfalme, whose real name is Joseph Mwenda, has spoken out following his arrest in connection with the death of a senior Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officer after an altercation in Kiambu County.

Mwenda, along with his bouncer, driver, and photographer, allegedly assaulted Deputy DCIO Felix Kelian of Kabete Police Station on March 16 in Kikuyu market.

Over the weekend, the DJ was taken into custody, along with three police officers from Kikuyu Police Station.

In a statement released on Sunday, Mwenda expressed condolences to the family, friends, and those affected by the “regrettable” incident. He stated that he and his team have been cooperating with investigative agencies since the occurrence of the incident.

“We express our deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and all those impacted by this unfortunate incident. DJ Joe Mfalme and his team have been in close collaboration with the investigative agencies since the occurrence of the incident,” the statement posted on social media read.

Mwenda pledged cooperation as necessary and expressed trust in both God and the authorities to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation to “uncover the truth.”

“Given the ongoing investigations and the sensitive nature of the matter, we shall refrain from making any further statements at this time,” added the DJ, who is currently detained at Kabete Police Station.

Reports suggest that Mwenda, along with his bouncer, driver, photographer, and a woman, were heading home around 4 am after performing at a Kikuyu club that Saturday.
