The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) has ordered controversial Kisii gospel singer Christopher Mosioma, popularly known as Embarambamba to delete all his songs from social platforms or face legal consequences.
KFCB issued the directives to the singer following a meeting initiated over concerns about the rising levels of “indecent content” in his music videos.
In a statement released after the meeting, KFCB instructed Embarambamba to remove all his music videos from his YouTube channel and other social media platforms within the next two days, as per their earlier demand notice.
Failure to comply will result in further legal action against the singer.
Additionally, Embarambamba has been directed to submit all his music videos to KFCB for examination and classification to ensure they are appropriate for different age groups. He was also ordered to obtain a filming license before embarking on any new productions.
Embarambamba was questioned about his alleged violation of Sections 4 (Part II) and 12 of Cap 222, which govern the creation, broadcasting, possession, distribution, and exhibition of audio-visual content in Kenya. The artist was specifically asked about the use of vulgarity, nudity, indecency, and violent dancing styles in his content, particularly in the song ‘Niko Uchi’ and others.
According to KFCB, Embarambamba has agreed to adhere to the advisory issued by the film classification authority.
