Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has publicly voiced his support for former TV journalist Jacque Maribe amidst ongoing confusion surrounding her purported appointment to his Public Service, Performance, and Delivery Management Ministry.
In an official statement released via his X account, Kuria emphasized his unwavering solidarity with Maribe, citing their enduring friendship spanning 16 years.
“Meanwhile, I stand with Jacque Maribe, my friend for the last 16 years, and I will stand with her just like I stood with Gov Kawira Mwangaza in the wake of unjustified bullying,” wrote Moses Kuria.
Furthermore, Kuria clarified that he had not officially designated Maribe for any position within the ministry nor had he made any public statements regarding her supposed appointment.
Reports had surfaced suggesting that the former journalist had been appointed as the Head of Communications within the ministry shortly after her acquittal in the Monica Kimani murder case. However, Anthony Muchiri, Chairperson of the Public Service Commission, issued a statement on Thursday, March 14, 2024, refuting these claims. Muchiri clarified that despite Kuria’s earlier remarks, there had been no formal appointment of Jacque Maribe to any position within the ministry, nor had the commission received any request for her employment.
The statement from Muchiri adds another layer of complexity to the situation, indicating that there may have been miscommunication or misinformation regarding Maribe’s status within the ministry. As the situation unfolds, Maribe continues to garner support from Kuria and others, while the details surrounding her alleged appointment remain unclear.
