Bungoma governor Kenneth Lusaka has called on his Trans Nzoia counterpart
George Natembeya to tone down his onslaught on the National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula.
Speaking to Kaptama residents in Mt Elgon, at the launch of Ngweyo Butaki Foundation, governor Lusaka, aware of the impact of divisive politics on development ,urged elected leaders to bury their political differences for the common good of their electorate.
“Leaders are societal mirrors, duly elected in different capacities to represent the public interest. As we endeavour to deliver for our people, we should shun divisive politics and embrace each other,” he noted.
Lusaka’s sentiments come as Natembeya sustains his attacks on Wetang’ula whom he has singled out among leaders he claims are not ‘useful’ to the western Kenya community.
According to Natembeya, Speaker Wetang’ula has been in leadership for a very long time but there is little to show.
Natembeya has, in his mission, launched the ‘Tawe’ movement (loosely translated us NO) that he uses to campaign against Wetang’ula who is the party leader of Ford Kenya.
Natembeya, is a member of Eugene Wamalwa led DAP-K party.
Supporters of the two politicians have in the past fought each other in public functions
Similarly, the governor encouraged communities in the County to uphold their rich cultural heritage for ecotourism.
“Our culture is our true heritage. It defines our origin. Let us trace back to our roots, exploit our indelible mark for ecotourism,” he noted .
