A man from Southern California has sued a luxury resort in Las Vegas after claiming he was stung by a scorpion on his testicles while asleep at the hotel.
Michael Farchi, residing in Agoura Hills, California, stated that the sting caused him excruciating pain, with lingering medical issues persisting months later.
Farchi and his family were guests at the Venetian’s Palazzo tower on December 26 when the incident occurred. He described being abruptly awakened by sharp pain in his private area.
“I woke up with sharp pain in my private area,” he told the media. “Didn’t know what it was. I reached my hand to see what was happening under the covers and got another sharp pain.”
He claims to have been stung at least three or four times by the small venomous creature, which he eventually discovered clinging to his boxers.
The exact species of the scorpion and the toxicity of its venom remain unclear. Photos released by Farchi and his attorney depict the arachnid appearing to be approximately an inch long.
Following the incident, Farchi sought treatment at a local hospital and filed a report with the hotel staff. Despite this, he asserts that he still had to pay for the room.
He is now pursuing legal action against the resort for an unspecified amount.
“Nobody staying in Vegas needs to be exposed to deadly scorpions while they’re sleeping, let alone on their private parts, their testicles,” stated his attorney, Brian Virag.
The hotel, in response, informed a Las Vegas TV station that “The resort has protocols for all incidents and we can confirm they were followed in this incident.”
