Detectives have nabbed 810 litres of ethanol, fake Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) stamps and assorted liquor bottles in the Thone Grove area of Kitengela, Kajiado County in a major illegal brew crackdown.

The raid, conducted in a warehouse nestled within a high-end estate, resulted in the arrest of one suspect, while others managed to evade capture.

Acting on a tip-off from vigilant members of the public, police descended on the illicit distillery, prompted by concerns raised by locals about the suspicious activities taking place in the area. Residents had become increasingly alarmed by the frequent comings and goings of vehicles, particularly during the late hours of the night.

Their suspicions were further aroused when they discovered that the seemingly innocuous fenced-off property concealed a clandestine warehouse structure.

The decisive action was triggered when estate members intercepted a vehicle departing from the premises, laden with jerricans containing an unidentified substance. Sensing the gravity of the situation, they promptly alerted law enforcement authorities, leading to the subsequent raid and seizure of illicit materials.
