Police, in collaboration with the provincial administration, have launched an investigation into the death of a 37-year-old man in a suspected love triangle in North East Kadem, Nyatike Sub-County.
Area Chief Voshastar Akal confirmed that the deceased, identified as Kevin Ouma, was fatally wounded during a confrontation with another man, Johnson Ochieng, over a married woman. Ochieng, who also sustained serious panga wounds, is currently receiving treatment at Migori Level Four Hospital.
According to Chief Akal, both men had been secretly involved with the woman. The fatal altercation occurred on the night of March 31, 2025, when Ouma, who had arranged to meet the woman at her home, was confronted by Ochieng. A heated argument escalated into violence, with both men wielding crude weapons. Ouma was stabbed in the chest and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Following the incident, Ouma’s family stormed the woman’s home and set her house on fire in retaliation. The woman’s husband was reportedly away, working outside Migori County.
Police have launched a full investigation into the case, with authorities urging calm as they gather further evidence.
