Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Headquarters Operation Action Team (OAT) have arrested three suspects linked to a series of violent robberies in Westlands and other parts of Nairobi.

The suspects were apprehended during an intelligence-led operation in Kawangware that also led to the recovery of a loaded Retay Falcon pistol and two motorcycles believed to have been used in the commission of the crimes.

According to investigators, the arrests followed weeks of painstaking investigations that helped trace the suspects’ alleged involvement in multiple robbery incidents across the city.

The operation began along Ngina Road in Kawangware, where detectives arrested the first suspect, identified as Nimrod Khayeshe, alias Buba.

Following his interrogation, Khayeshe allegedly led detectives to his suspected accomplices, Vangelis Njungi, alias Vangi, and Patrick Kingato, who were subsequently arrested in the same operation.

A search conducted during the arrests led to the recovery of a Retay Falcon pistol fitted with a magazine loaded with three rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Detectives also recovered two motorcycles, registration numbers KMGT 497W and KMHG 829H, which investigators believe were used as getaway bikes during the robbery incidents.

The three suspects remain in police custody as they undergo processing ahead of their arraignment in court.

Meanwhile, the recovered firearm, ammunition and motorcycles have been detained as exhibits as detectives continue investigations into the suspects’ alleged involvement in other violent robberies across Nairobi.
