The Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) has teamed up with 100m sprinter Ferdinand Omanyala to promote Kenya during the ITB Berlin expo scheduled for March 5-7, 2024, in Berlin, Germany.
Omanyala’s involvement aims to enhance KTB’s efforts in showcasing Kenya on the global stage. His presence at the Kenyan stand during the event is further expected to attract additional attention, highlighting Kenya’s status as a powerhouse in global athletics.
This collaboration seeks to establish a strong and positive connection between Kenya and its renowned athletics culture, recognized as one of the most formidable and captivating in world athletics today.
“I am honored to collaborate with the Kenya Tourism Board in showcasing the beauty and splendor of our beloved country at ITB Berlin 2024. As a proud Kenyan and an athlete, I understand the importance of giving back to my country. Through this partnership, I hope to not only promote Kenya as an ideal travel destination but also inspire others to explore the experiences our nation has to offer,” Omanyala said.
In addition to his presence at the Kenyan stand, Omanyala will actively participate in various promotional activities, including engaging with potential visitors, hosting meet-and-greet sessions, and participating in panel discussions.
Despite finishing just outside the medals in fourth place in the 60 meters final at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Glasgow, Omanyala’s performance marked Kenya’s best-ever showing in indoor sprints and Africa’s best since 2008 when Nigeria’s Olusoji Fasuba clinched gold in Valencia.
Christian Coleman and Noah Lyles of the USA secured gold and silver respectively, with Jamaica’s Ackeem Blake taking bronze in the Glasgow final ahead of Omanyala.
