Detectives in Marsabit are investigating a tragic incident where a police constable who was manning a road block died after shooting himself inside a toilet.
Constable Victor Kipgeno was manning the Turbi roadblock when the incident happened.
His colleagues say he left his post and walked to the nearby station, approximately 50 meters away, armed with an AK47 rifle.
Despite showing no signs of distress or challenges beforehand, Kipngeno entered the restroom and turned his weapon on himself, firing several bullets at his chin.
His colleagues, alerted by the gunfire, rushed to the scene only to discover his lifeless body lying in a pool of blood with the weapon beside him. Four spent bullets littered the area, and four holes were visible in the toilet’s roof.
Colleagues noted that Kipngeno had appeared cheerful earlier that morning when he reported for duty.
The motive behind his tragic actions remains unknown, and investigations are ongoing, with the body transferred to the mortuary for autopsy.
