A man accused of exposing his wife on social media for dumping him before killing her in Mathira, Nyeri county, was found dead in Thika, Kiambu county, in a suspected suicide.

The body of Evans Kosgei was found dangling from a tree with a rope around his neck on Monday, March 11.

It is believed that he took his own life either Sunday night or Monday morning, evading a police dragnet in the Jomoko area on Thika-Mangu Road.

“His body was found on a tree long after he had evaded a police dragnet in the Jomoko area on Thika-Mangu Road,” police said.

Kosgei’s body was found with the identification card of his deceased partner, Jackline Jerop Kimaiyo, and a suicide note confessing his responsibility for her murder.

“The suicide note was kept for analysis,” police said .

Kosgei had been missing since March 6, when the body of his wife and mother of one was discovered in Mathira in connection to a murder investigation.

The alleged motive behind the crime is a love triangle. as Kosgei is reported to have killed Jackline, who was a teacher in Mathira East, while he worked as a night guard in Thika, residing about 50 kilometers away from her workplace in Waitethie, Thika.

Prior to and after the murder, Kosgei took to social media accusing Jackline of infidelity. His social media posts hinted at his distress and the apparent breakdown of his relationship.

According to him, their relationship traced back to their high school days, characterized by a seemingly unbreakable bond that defied familial objections.

However, their union was tested when two other individuals entered their lives. This marked the end of the relationship and their lives.

“A team of police from Nyeri had been monitoring his movements and revealed he fled to Mombasa for what they believe was a ritual mission,” said the police.
