Doja Cat recently made headlines after deactivating her Instagram account, citing her dissatisfaction with how she was being treated and spoken to on the platform.
The 28-year-old American singer shared a photo of a stone crab claw holding a cigarette and explained to her followers her decision to exit, expressing that she wasn’t enjoying her time on the app anymore.
She emphasized her appreciation for the platform as a source of inspiration and creativity but expressed feeling overwhelmed by the negativity she encountered.
In her initial announcement, she wrote, “Hey, I’m gonna deactivate because I’m not really feeling this anymore. You guys take care of yourselves.” She later edited the message to add, “I like coming here to find inspo and see people being creative, but I just feel this is getting to be too much. The way I’m spoken to on here and treated makes me have f****d up thoughts. Please watch how you talk to and about people on the internet. Bye.”
Her departure from Instagram comes amidst speculation from some of her fans about her relationship status with J. Cyrus in recent weeks.
Rumors began circulating after social media users claimed to have spotted her account on the celebrity dating app, Raya. Doja Cat and J. Cyrus were first seen together in November 2022, but it wasn’t until they were photographed sharing dinner in New York City in May 2023 that their relationship was publicly acknowledged.
