A 45-year-old man is currently undergoing treatment at Bondo sub-county hospital in Siaya County after sustaining severe injuries inflicted by his wife in an alleged domestic dispute at Abimbo village in South Sakwa on Monday evening.

According to Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo, the incident was brought to light when the Assistant Chief of Got-Abiero, Collins Waganda, reported the matter at the Amoyo police base.

“The woman hacked her husband with a panga across the face while he was asleep,” stated Waganda.

“The victim sustained a deep cut on the face. Neighbors who responded to the distress call rushed him to the hospital where he was admitted in a serious condition,” he added.

Waganda further noted that the neighbors intervened and subdued the woman, who was later taken into custody.

“The woman was taken to the Amoyo police base before being transferred to Bondo police station to aid with investigations,” Waganda explained.

During the preliminary investigation, police officers recovered a blood-stained panga at the scene, which was retained as evidence.
