The Senate and the National Assembly have reaffirmed their dedication to implementing the recommendations of the National Dialogue Committee (Nadco) report.
The Justice and Legal Affairs committees of both Houses emphasized that priority will be accorded to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) 2023 Bill.
Senator Hillary Sigei and MP George Murugara, the chairpersons of the respective committees, expressed their commitment to rallying their members to expedite the finalization of their report. The joint committee had been tasked with a 45-day mandate to deliberate on the report and provide recommendations. They were expected to submit their findings by the end of the current week.
“It is imperative that the two committees finalise their sessions and make a report to both Houses of Parliament since there is a general misconception that we may not be committed to the National Dialogue Committee recommendations, which is not true,” said Sigei.
