Kisii Governor Simba Arati has raised alarm over an unsettling incident at his Nairobi office, just a day after filing a statement with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) regarding an alleged police-conspired plot to plant firearms at his residences.
In a press briefing on Tuesday evening, Arati revealed that his office security guard had notified him of the presence of five uniformed men who claimed to be conducting patrols in the area.
“I was at the CoG meeting where we were discussing the issue of healthcare workers strike. My guard informed me that there were five police officers who had come to my office. They had an altercation with my watchman and they threatened to break into my office,” said Arati.
Upon arriving at his office, following his participation in a Council of Governors (CoG) meeting, Arati asserted that he found the officers already inside his premises. He expressed concerns over the intrusion, hinting at possible political motives behind such actions and accusing his adversaries of leveraging law enforcement to intimidate him.
“When I came, I found them already inside. I came with my lawyer James Orengo. I asked them why they were in my office and they said they were just coming to check the compound.”
This development comes in the wake of Arati’s recent statement to the DCI, wherein he and his legal team, including James Orengo, presented an audio recording implicating a Kisii County Criminal Investigations Officer (CCIO) in discussions about a purported scheme to plant weapons at the Governor’s residence.
As investigations into these allegations unfold, Arati remains steadfast in his pursuit of justice and transparency, vowing to confront any attempts to undermine his leadership or tarnish his reputation through illicit means.
