Former Bahati Member of Parliament (MP), Kimani Ngunjiri, has announced his departure from the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party. Speaking during a radio interview on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, Ngunjiri publicly declared his decision to sever ties with UDA.
“I want to make it clear to everyone in Kenya through this media platform that I am no longer affiliated with UDA. I will not associate myself with the yellow color anymore,” Ngunjiri asserted.
When questioned about the reasons behind his exit from UDA, the former lawmaker criticized the party’s nomination process, alleging that it favored individuals with familial connections, friendships, and political alliances.
Ngunjiri specifically highlighted an instance where UDA allegedly allocated seven nomination slots to a single influential family in his home county of Nakuru.
“Having been involved with various political figures such as Moi and Kibaki, and understanding the dynamics of elections, I am aware of how nominations should be conducted fairly. Unfortunately, this was not the case with UDA,” Ngunjiri lamented.
Ngunjiri’s departure from UDA signifies a significant shift in political allegiance, reflecting his dissatisfaction with the party’s internal processes and decisions.
