A 32-year-old man, identified as Patrick Owino Ayieng’, is currently detained at Siaya police station on allegations of cultivating cannabis (bhang). Ayieng’ was apprehended following a raid conducted by local National Government Administration officers in Nyangera village within Nyadorera ‘A’ sub-location.
According to Siaya County Police Commander, Mr. Cleti Kimaiyo, the arrest followed a tip-off which led officers to Owino’s farm where approximately 45 stems of fresh cannabis were discovered. Kimaiyo emphasized that the suspect was promptly arrested during the operation and is now in police custody awaiting court proceedings where he will face charges related to the cultivation of an illegal substance.
Kimaiyo further affirmed that the law enforcement crackdown on cannabis cultivation will persist in order to completely eradicate the illicit plant from the area.
