Televangelist David Ngari, also known as Gakuyo, is set to appear in court today for pretrial directions in a case where he is accused of a Sh1.3 billion fraud.
Gakuyo was charged in February with conspiracy to commit a felony and 12 counts of obtaining money by false pretenses.
He denied all the charges and was granted bail of Sh100 million with an alternative bond of Sh200 million, along with two contact persons.
Milimani principal magistrate Ben Mark Ekhubi also ordered Gakuyo to deposit his passport in court and not interfere with investigations.
According to the charge sheet, Gakuyo allegedly conspired to steal Sh1,052,746,094 from Ekeza Sacco members between 2015 and 2018.
