Absa Kenya has officially announced the appointment of Wilson Murage as the Company’s substantive Secretary, succeeding Loise Gakumo. This confirmation was communicated through a notice published in local newspapers, with Murage’s appointment effective as of Tuesday, May 28, 2024.

The Board of Directors, led by Chairman Charles Muchene, emphasized that Murage’s selection came after a rigorous and competitive recruitment process, alongside necessary regulatory approvals.

“The Board of Directors of Absa Bank Kenya PLC is pleased to announce that Wilson Kahoro Murage has been confirmed to the role of Company Secretary of Absa Kenya with effect from May 28, 2024, following the conclusion of a competitive recruitment process and receipt of regulatory approvals,” Muchene stated. “We take this opportunity to wish Murage continued success in this role,” he added.

Murage had been serving as the Interim Company Secretary since October 2023, following the departure of Loise Gakumo, who resigned after four and a half years in the position.

Murage brings a wealth of experience to the role. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and a Master of Laws (LL.M) in International Trade and Investments Law from the University of Nairobi. Additionally, he is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with 17 years of experience and is a Certified Public Secretary.

The Board expressed confidence in Murage’s abilities and looks forward to his continued contributions to the company’s success.
