Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are currently holding three members of a gang suspected of stealing four cars from a showroom in Mombasa.

The agency released a statement on Tuesday, indicating that the three individuals were part of a four-member syndicate responsible for a series of car thefts from showrooms. The trio was apprehended at the Kadzandani area, in the Malindi store yard owned by the fourth member who is currently on the run.

The detectives revealed that the syndicate was involved in several other car thefts targeting owners in Mombasa County. “Four members of a motor vehicle theft syndicate that has been terrorizing Mombasa County dwellers have today been arrested by a joint team of detectives based at the County’s headquarters and DCI Urban,” the statement read.

During an intelligence-led operation, the detectives managed to recover three stolen vehicles; a white Toyota Succeed, a silver Toyota Passo, and a black Nissan Note. These vehicles had been stolen from the Kainat Trading Ltd Showroom in the Ganjoni area. A manhunt is currently underway to recover more stolen vehicles and apprehend the yard owner who is evading arrest.
