In a bizarre twist, detectives have connected the mysterious murder of wealthy Asian businessman Somesh Ramesh to the brutal killing of university student Rita Waeni. This connection emerged after tracing Somesh’s stolen phone to an apartment in Ruaka, where Rita Waeni’s phone was also last active before being switched off.
Somesh Ramesh was reported to have left his family home on Brookside Drive in Westlands on May 11 to meet a friend he had spoken to on the phone. He was driving a Lexus. The following morning, his lifeless body was discovered along Ruaka-Gachie Road with three deep stab wounds. His phones and other valuables were missing, and his vehicle was later found abandoned in Gachie, approximately 16 kilometers from where his body was found.
Intensive investigations involving multiple agencies revealed that Somesh’s phones were last switched off at an apartment in Ruaka, the same location where Rita Waeni’s phone was turned off hours after her murder. Waeni, a university student, was brutally murdered and dismembered in January at an Airbnb apartment in Roysambu.
The main suspect in Rita Waeni’s murder remains at large. Last month, police released blurred images of the suspect and appealed to the public for assistance in locating him.
Detectives handling the case believe these new developments may provide crucial leads to solve both murders. The similarities in the locations where the victims’ phones were last active have given investigators renewed hope in unraveling the mysteries behind these heinous crimes.
