Military choppers will no longer be available for use by politicians, Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has announced. This decision aligns with the Kenya Defence Forces’ policy to protect its assets from misuse.
Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV on Wednesday night, Duale emphasized that military helicopters are intended for specific functions within the KDF. “We have a policy, we are not going to carry politicians anymore. Helicopters are meant for specific functions within KDF, they are part of our assets in safeguarding the country,” he stated.
Duale clarified that the helicopters and other military assets will now be reserved exclusively for military duties, such as transporting troops and conducting vital operations. However, as the Defence CS, he will still have access to military helicopters for official operations, such as those in North Rift or Boni forest. This access also extends to Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki.
Additionally, President William Ruto remains the only individual who can exclusively use military aircraft for any function, whether private or public.
