Friday, May 10, has been officially designated as a public holiday to commemorate National Tree Growing Day and to honor Kenyans who have lost their lives in the widespread floods across the country.
According to the notice , the day will serve as a dual remembrance, focusing on the importance of tree planting and reflecting on the tragic impact of the ongoing floods.
Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura had previously indicated on his social media account that a gazette notice would be issued to formalize the holiday. He also mentioned that Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Forestry & Climate Change, Hon Soipan Tuya, would hold a press conference to provide further guidance on the day’s activities.
