Police officers at Thika West Police Station are currently investigating the tragic death of 19-year-old university student Faith Musembi, whose lifeless body was discovered in Pilot Estate, Thika, Kiambu County.
The grim discovery was made by Faith’s father, Boniface Musembi, who rushed to his daughter’s residence after receiving distressing calls demanding ransom through her mobile phone.
In a distressing turn of events, Faith’s family complied with the demands, transferring Ksh27,000 to secure her release. However, the perpetrator refused to release her and instead demanded an additional Ksh33,000 from the family.
Despite reporting the matter to Thika West Police Station, the family was disheartened by what they perceived as a lack of urgency from the officers, who suggested the possibility of a ploy by Faith’s acquaintances.
Unconvinced by the police response, the family took matters into their own hands and visited the university to escalate the situation. Subsequently, Boniface ventured to his daughter’s residence in Pilot Estate, where he made the tragic discovery of her lifeless body.
Law enforcement officials arrived at the scene shortly afterward and have commenced investigations to uncover the circumstances surrounding Faith’s death.
Disturbing details emerged from messages exchanged between Faith’s father and the assailant, revealing a chilling conversation about the ransom demands and the tragic outcome.
A subsequent post-mortem examination conducted at General Kago Funeral Home determined that Faith’s cause of death was excessive bleeding. The examination also indicated that Faith was pregnant at the time of her demise, prompting calls for thorough investigation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
Faith’s cousin, Dominic Makau, emphasized the need for swift justice, urging authorities to delve into the matter to ascertain the events leading to her untimely demise.
