Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has refuted claims of a rift between him and President William Ruto, emphasizing that their working relationship remains strong. Addressing congregants in Uasin Gishu, Gachagua assured that he and Ruto are collaborating effectively within the Kenya Kwanza administration.
“The president and I are working together amicably, we love and respect each other and are doing our work perfectly. He has assigned me lots of duties, some are overwhelming and he has facilitated me to continue with my work. So our government is united and we are working,” Gachagua said. He also encouraged the communities in Uasin Gishu County to maintain harmonious relations.
These statements followed Gachagua’s previous remarks expressing concerns about certain leaders close to President Ruto sowing discord. Gachagua warned that he would not tolerate any attempts to damage his relationship with the president and urged these leaders to refrain from interfering in the political affairs of the Mt. Kenya region.
“The problem is a few leaders here from this region who have proximity to the President ndio wanakoroga siasa ya huko kwetu kudanganya watu eti waaanze kupanga mambo ya 2032,” he said.
Gachagua highlighted the support the Mt. Kenya region provided during President Ruto’s presidential campaign, cautioning those now undermining him to remember this alliance.
