In Nyakach, Kisumu County, police have arrested an 18-year-old boy after he fatally struck a relative who allegedly called his father a witch in Dirubi village.
Following the incident, an enraged mob retaliated by killing the boy’s father, Valentine Ochieng, and setting fire to four houses on their property.
According to a police report, the altercation occurred while the suspect and his father were on their way home. They encountered the relative, who accused Ochieng of witchcraft.
The confrontation escalated, and the suspect struck the relative on the head with a wooden stick. The injured relative was initially taken to Nyabondo Mission Hospital and later transferred to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH), where he succumbed to his injuries.
In retaliation, a mob stormed Ochieng’s home, killed him, and burned down several houses. The police are currently investigating the incident.
