Nick Van Opstal, a foreign national, along with his four accomplices—Samuel Marigi, Patrick Wangai, Susan Oluoch, and Christine Muthoni Wangechi—were apprehended by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Saturday morning.

The arrests took place at the KCB Sports Club grounds, where the group was allegedly conducting a meeting.

The five suspects are accused of planning to defraud thousands of job seekers through their recruitment agencies, Alhanawa Jobs and Supply Link Ventures Ltd. Preliminary investigations have indicated that the National Employment Authority had previously flagged these agencies as fraudulent operations.

According to a statement from the DCI, detectives raided the venue following a tip-off, preventing approximately 1,000 job seekers from falling victim to the scam. The job seekers were reportedly being briefed on securing overseas employment opportunities when the raid occurred.

Three additional suspects linked to the scam—Hannah Mbugua, Gladys Oluasa, and Lucy Wanjiru—managed to evade arrest. A manhunt has been launched to locate and apprehend them.

The DCI continues to investigate the case, urging the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious job recruitment activities.
