A 19-year-old man, Ian Njoroge, has been arrested after being captured on camera viciously attacking a traffic police officer at Mirema. Njoroge was apprehended at his rental apartment in Green Span Estate, Donholm.

Videos of Njoroge’s dramatic arrest have surfaced on social media, showing police ordering him to wear the same clothes he had on during the assault.

The suspect was interrogated before being taken to the police station. In the videos, Njoroge is seen pleading for mercy and expressing regret for his actions.

“I have never assaulted a police officer in the past. I acted out of explosive anger.”

The officers, however, remind him of the gravity of his actions, with one saying, “Do you know that officer is like your father?”

The arrest followed an incident report filed at the Kasarani police station. According to the report, Traffic Officer Jacob Ogendo was on duty on Kamiti Road when he spotted a motor vehicle making a U-turn, causing obstruction to other road users.

Upon approaching the vehicle, the driver hit the road kerb and got stuck. Ogendo managed to enter the vehicle from the front passenger seat and instructed the driver to proceed to the police station.

However, as they reached opposite Quick Mart, the driver suddenly stopped, drew a sword from under the seat, and attacked Ogendo. The officer jumped out for his safety, but Njoroge followed him, delivering blows and kicks.

Members of the public intervened and rescued Officer Ogendo, who was initially taken to Crestview Mother and Child Wellness Center in Kasarani for treatment before being referred to Mama Lucy Hospital for further care.
