In Kisii County, four Burundian nationals and one Kenyan were arrested after being found in possession of 151 mobile phones suspected to have been stolen.

The police report, filed on Thursday, identified the foreigners as Birori Benard, Biziman Alain, Kubwiman Fideli, and Hakizimana Janviel. They were apprehended along with Enock Mokaya, a Kenyan national, at Nyakongo Estate.

The suspects were found with 60 M-Kopa mobile phones and 91 other regular phones, all believed to have been stolen from the public. Authorities suspect that the group was planning to smuggle the devices to neighboring countries, potentially averting a significant loss for the public.

An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
