BET has announced that Grammy Award-winning global entertainment icon Usher will be honored with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement BET Award at the 2024 BET Awards. The event will be broadcast live on June 30 from the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. This coveted award recognizes industry pioneers who have significantly influenced culture and the entertainment industry.
The Lifetime Achievement BET Award acknowledges special achievements and distinguished public service. Last year, the award was presented to Busta Rhymes. Previous recipients include legendary figures such as Whitney Houston, Prince, Queen Latifah, Anita Baker, Mary J. Blige, Samuel Jackson, Lionel Richie, and New Edition.
“The relationship between BET and Usher spans decades, from his multiple appearances on 106 & Park to most recently winning the Entertainer of the Year trophy at the 55th NAACP Image Awards,” said Connie Orlando, BET EVP, Specials, Music Programming, and Music Strategy.
As one of the best-selling artists in music history, Usher has had an illustrious three-decade career, selling over 80 million records worldwide. His groundbreaking albums, including My Way and Confessions, have shattered records and earned him numerous accolades, including eight Grammy Awards. Usher’s impact on the industry is undeniable, making him a deserving recipient of this prestigious honor.
