The Kenya Meteorological Department has forecasted continued rainfall in specific regions of the country over the next seven days.
According to the department’s announcement, rain is expected in the Central Highland region, Western Kenya, the Lake Victoria basin, and the Rift Valley region from June 4 to June 10. The affected counties include Kisii, Nyamira, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Kisumu, and Homa Bay, among others.
While sunny intervals are anticipated in the mornings, some areas might experience light rainfall. Afternoon and nighttime showers, accompanied by thunderstorms, are expected in a few places, occasionally spreading to several areas. Residents of these counties are advised to remain vigilant for potential floods.
Conversely, the rest of the country is predicted to remain dry throughout the week. Counties like Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo are expected to experience sunny conditions. However, intermittent cold and cloudy weather are forecasted over certain parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands, and the Rift Valley.
In terms of temperature, high average daytime temperatures exceeding 30°C are anticipated in parts of the Coastal region, North-Eastern, and North-Western Kenya. Conversely, low average night-time temperatures of less than 10°C are expected over parts of the Central Highlands and the Central Rift Valley regions.
Additionally, strong southerly to south-easterly winds, with speeds exceeding 25 knots (12.9 m/s), are forecasted over some parts of the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya.
