NAIROBI, Kenya — Isuzu East Africa has handed over the 159th and final unit of the Kipchoge D-Max Limited Edition to marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge, bringing to a close a three-year campaign celebrating his record-breaking career and philosophy of excellence.
The special-edition pickup was developed as part of Isuzu’s long-standing partnership with Kipchoge, who has served as the Isuzu D-Max brand ambassador since 2017.
The campaign was inspired by Kipchoge’s famous “No Human Is Limited” philosophy, linking the D-Max brand to themes of perseverance, determination, excellence and overcoming perceived limitations.
Why Only 159 Units Were Made
Isuzu produced just 159 units of the limited-edition pickup as a tribute to one of Kipchoge’s most historic achievements.
In October 2019, Kipchoge became the first person to complete the marathon distance in under two hours when he recorded an unofficial time of 1:59:40 in Vienna, Austria, during the INEOS 1:59 Challenge.
The number 159 was therefore chosen to represent the landmark achievement.
Each vehicle was sold as part of the exclusive Kipchoge 159 Club, creating a community of owners connected by the athlete’s message of pushing beyond limits.
Kipchoge Takes Final Unit
Kipchoge purchased the 159th and final D-Max Limited Edition, making the handover a symbolic conclusion to the campaign.
The final vehicle not only marks the end of the limited production run but also reinforces the relationship between the marathon champion and Isuzu, which has used his achievements and personal philosophy to promote the D-Max brand over the years.
The three-year initiative has now concluded with all 159 units accounted for, with the final pickup going to the man whose 1:59:40 achievement inspired the special edition in the first place.
