KIAMBU, Kenya — A heavily pregnant woman in Kasarani Mwiki has been left in a difficult situation after her landlord reportedly removed the door to her house over rent arrears amounting to KSh15,000.

Jane Muthoni Watiri is said to be expecting a baby and requires a Caesarean section, but is facing the pregnancy without her husband, who reportedly abandoned the family.

According to reports, the landlord took the drastic step after Muthoni fell behind on her rent, leaving her home without a door.

The situation has drawn public attention after details of her circumstances emerged, with the expectant mother reportedly struggling to provide for her family.

Muthoni is also caring for a child with special needs, while her older daughter is said to require KSh14,000 to return to high school.

The family’s financial difficulties have compounded Muthoni’s situation as she prepares to undergo delivery.

The reported incident has sparked sympathy online, with Kenyans expressing concern over the plight of the expectant mother and her children.

The case has also renewed conversations about the challenges faced by tenants struggling to keep up with rent payments, particularly those dealing with medical, family and financial difficulties.
