Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has reaffirmed his commitment to the one-man, one-shilling campaign, asserting that not even President Uhuru Kenyatta will deter him from championing the cause for the benefit of the Mt. Kenya region.
Addressing a gathering on Saturday evening, Gachagua urged the people of Mt. Kenya to closely monitor politicians and their statements, emphasizing the importance of identifying those who oppose the one-man, one-shilling principle.
He stressed that equitable revenue-sharing was a rightful entitlement for the people of the region, and anyone opposing this initiative could not be considered a true ally or defender of Mt. Kenya’s interests.
Furthermore, Gachagua expressed regret for his previous opposition to the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), spearheaded by former President Uhuru Kenyatta and Azimio Leader Raila Odinga, acknowledging that the BBI was beneficial for Mt. Kenya.
Encouraging residents to recognize leaders who advocated for one-man, one-vote, one-shilling, such as Uhuru and Raila, through the BBI, Gachagua emphasized their role as champions fighting for the rights of the community.
“Pay close attention to the words of politicians; those fighting for our people’s rightful share are the true heroes of our community. Those who oppose should be identified so that everyone is aware of their stance,” Gachagua affirmed.
