Musician and police officer Samuel Muchoki Ndirangu, popularly known by his stage name Samidoh, has pushed back against allegations made by the National Police Service (NPS) that he deserted his duties.
Samidoh, who is currently assigned to the Administration Police’s Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU), issued an official letter dated April 25, 2025, indicating that he had been granted formal clearance to travel to the United States for a private visit.
The letter, which bears the signature of Mathew Kutoh on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, outlines the period during which he was permitted to be out of the country.
“Travel clearance is hereby granted to the above-named officer to travel to the United States of America for a private visit. The officer will leave the country on May 20, 2025, and return on June 9, 2025,” the letter states.
The document also specifies that Samidoh would cover all associated expenses during his trip:
“Since then, CMM has not been seen, and his whereabouts are not known,” the report reads.
Despite this prior approval, a recent internal police report indicates that the officer has not reported back for duty and has been absent for over ten days without further communication, prompting disciplinary proceedings.
Samidoh, who was recently reassigned from the Central Region Police Headquarters to the ASTU in Gilgil, now faces scrutiny over his extended absence despite presenting documented approval for his travel.
