Nairobi, Kenya – Former nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba has broken her silence following a court decision that ordered her to pay Ksh 10.5 million in damages to Senate Clerk Jeremiah Nyengene in a high-profile defamation case.
In a strongly-worded video statement, Orwoba doubled down on her previous accusations, claiming her statements were based on firsthand experiences of harassment and discrimination during her tenure in the Senate.
“I stand by what I said. My statements were rooted in personal encounters,” Orwoba said. “After I rejected his advances, I was sidelined, stripped of my committee roles, and denied opportunities for international travel.”
Orwoba described Nyengene as a “serial womanizer”, accusing him of abusing his power to target and exploit female leaders within Parliament.
She claimed she formally raised complaints with the Parliamentary Service Commission, the Senate Speaker, and the Speaker of the National Assembly, but was ignored and left without institutional support.
“No action was taken to protect me,” she added. “This ruling won’t silence me. I am appealing and I will fight to the very end.”
The court recently ruled in favour of Senate Clerk Nyengene, concluding that Orwoba’s statements had defamed him. She was ordered to pay Ksh 10.5 million in general damages.
