Nyaribari Chache MP Zaheer Jhanda has sharply criticized opposition leaders from the ODM party, accusing them of hypocrisy amid rising tensions over the government’s handling of protests and economic policies.
Jhanda’s remarks follow growing discontent within the opposition regarding the Kenya Kwanza administration’s crackdown on anti-government protests and what they term as disregard for the plight of ordinary Kenyans.
Taking to his official social media platforms, Jhanda called out ODM leaders for issuing what he described as “empty threats and lectures” on governance and civil rights, despite some of them occupying influential positions within the government.
“Those ODM leaders criticising the government should not threaten or lecture us on how to run the government or on human rights. They have never won any elections,” Jhanda posted.
He further questioned the sincerity of their opposition, challenging them to vacate government positions if they truly disagreed with the administration’s direction.
“If they’re uncomfortable in the broad-based government, then muhame mbio,” he added, in reference to their continued presence in the current power-sharing framework.
The remarks come amid heightened political tension following the Saba Saba protests, where several citizens were injured or killed.
