Nairobi, Kenya – October 2, 2025 – The Head of the Presidential Special Projects & Creative Economy, Dennis Itumbi, has revealed that digital influencers can now earn money from the government by creating content that highlights key state programs.
According to Itumbi, the government is open to partnering with content creators who focus on promoting flagship projects such as:
- Social Health Authority (SHA)
- Affordable Housing
- Job Creation initiatives
- Agriculture programs
Influencers as Partners in Development
Speaking during a creative economy forum, Itumbi explained that the government views influencers as essential partners in shaping public awareness.
“One way influencers can make money is by producing creative content around major state projects. These initiatives need amplification, and creators can play a big role,” he said.
Why This Matters
Kenya’s creative economy has been on a steady rise, with platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube producing new digital stars every month. Government collaboration could provide creators with structured opportunities to earn while helping inform citizens about development programs.
What’s Next for Creators
The Ministry of ICT and Digital Economy has been rolling out policies to boost Kenya’s digital economy, including support for online workers. Content creators are encouraged to align with national priorities if they wish to benefit from such collaborations.
