Ali Kiba Apologises to Tanzanians for Supporting President Samia Suluhu

Tanzanian music superstar Ali Kiba has publicly apologised to his fellow citizens for supporting President Samia Suluhu Hassan, amid growing political unrest following the country’s recent general elections.

Taking to his Instagram Stories on Wednesday night, November 6, 2025, the award-winning Bongo Flava artist wrote:

“Poleni ndugu zangu Watanzania, na ninawaomba msamaha kwa kuwa kwaza,”
(“My fellow Tanzanians, I’m sorry and ask for your forgiveness if I have offended you.”)

Background: Post-Election Protests

The apology comes in the wake of widespread protests that erupted across Tanzania after the October 29, 2025 general elections, which many citizens claim were unfair and non-inclusive.

Weeks leading up to the polls, several top entertainers—including Ali Kiba—had been vocal in their support for President Samia Suluhu, praising her leadership despite public concerns that the opposition had been denied a level playing field.

The unrest, marked by street demonstrations in major cities including Dar es Salaam and Arusha, has exposed deep political discontent and frustration among Tanzanians over issues such as economic hardship, governance, and restricted political space.

Ali Kiba’s apology has since gone viral, sparking mixed reactions online—some fans praised him for his humility and courage, while others accused him of “damage control” after sensing public backlash.
