Gospel musician and former Inooro TV presenter Hellen Muthoni has responded to critics after facing backlash for publicly asking Kenyans to help her recover her repossessed car.
The media personality’s emotional appeal on social media sparked mixed reactions — with some Kenyans applauding her honesty, while others criticized her for soliciting help online.
“I Am Not Ashamed to Ask for Help”
Speaking in a TikTok livestream, Muthoni defended her decision to share her paybill number, saying she saw no shame in asking for assistance during tough times.
“Yes, I have a paybill, and it’s there. I am not afraid to say I need help,” she said. “If you can support me, please do.”
The former TV host revealed that she has been out of formal employment since leaving Inooro TV nearly two years ago, adding that life has been challenging.
“It’s Feminine to Accept Help”
Muthoni also shared a personal reflection on why seeking help shouldn’t be stigmatized.
“One of my friends told me it’s feminine to accept help. Refusing it is masculine energy,” she explained.
“There’s no shame in asking when you’re struggling.”
Fans Show Mixed Reactions
While many Kenyans sympathized with her situation and sent messages of encouragement, others questioned her decision to make the appeal public.
Despite the criticism, Muthoni maintained a positive outlook, saying she is focused on rebuilding and remains grateful for those standing by her.
