Fried chicken has officially claimed the top spot as Kenya’s most-ordered food in 2025, according to a new Uber Eats report that highlights a major shift in the country’s dining habits.

The findings show that Kenyans are increasingly embracing comfort foods and quick, flavorful meals, with fried chicken beating out long-time favorites such as pizza, burgers, and a variety of local delicacies.

Uber Eats noted that fried chicken’s popularity cuts across all age groups, making it the most universally loved food item on the platform this year. The rise is largely boosted by the explosive growth of food-delivery services, which have made accessing popular dishes easier than ever.

“Our data shows that fried chicken consistently ranks as the top item ordered by Kenyans this year. Convenience, taste, and variety continue to drive demand,” the Uber Eats report stated.

The report further reveals that weekends and evenings are the busiest times for food orders, with Kenyans showing strong interest in fusion flavors, gourmet twists, and creative takes on traditional meals. Local restaurants have quickly adapted, offering more innovative menu options to meet growing demand.

Uber Eats says the boom in food delivery is expected to influence Kenya’s fast-food and casual dining landscape, pushing eateries to expand their menus and upgrade their offerings as customer preferences evolve.
