Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has publicly expressed romantic interest in 22-year-old Marion Naipei, the woman at the centre of a viral club video that has sparked national debate.
Salasya made the remarks after Naipei sought help from Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Management, Geoffrey Mosiria, as she struggled to cope with the fallout from the incident involving her US-based partner.
Taking to social media, the MP directly addressed Mosiria while making his intentions known.
“I love short girls, nipe number yake… she can get a serious boyfriend to mentor her like me,” Salasya wrote, adding that Naipei needed stability and guidance to move forward from the ordeal.
The legislator also urged the public to forgive Naipei and move on from the controversy, describing her as beautiful despite the scandal.
“In summary, just keep quiet mrembo. Mistakes hu happen and at times we have no control, but it shall pass and you will come out strong,” Salasya said.
He further downplayed the legal route, suggesting reconciliation instead. “Hata police station haezi saidia, let’s just forget and forgive each other in this matter,” he added.
Meanwhile, Naipei has spoken out about the events leading up to the viral video, saying she had been in communication with the man involved for about a year. She revealed that the two met on January 5 after he contacted her and предложed to meet while he was in Kenya.
“He asked me where I was and I told him I was in Mwihoko. He paid for a cab and asked me to go to a club, promising he would come and pay,” Naipei said.
Upon arriving at the venue, she found a group of people already present. She said they drank together before moving to another club later in the night, where the situation escalated.
Naipei said she was heavily intoxicated and believes the man took advantage of her condition.
“He embarrassed me, he body-shamed me. I feel traumatised right now. I am sorry to all Kenyans. I made a mistake,” she said.
She questioned the motive behind the recording of the video, noting that she felt violated regardless of the circumstances.
“I was intoxicated so much, and that guy took advantage of the situation. What if I had agreed to his request — he would still have recorded me,” Naipei said.
The incident has continued to draw widespread reaction, with calls for accountability, compassion and respect for personal dignity dominating public discourse.
